Ulrike HAUER

 

Delegation of European Commission to Turkey, Counsellor

Ulrike Hauer has been with the European Commission since 1996. In September 2004, she took up her position at the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, as Head of Section for Trade, Economy and Agriculture, representing EC interests in Turkey in these areas, and assisting the process of Turkish accession to the EU.

Before her move to Ankara, she worked at the EC's headquarter in Brussels. First, from 1996 to 1999, in the department for external relations, the focus of her work was on international economic relations, analyzing developments regarding the EC's trade and economic relations with Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean countries. In 1999, she joined the EC's department for external trade as a member of the team responsible for International Trade in Services, participating in the WTO negotiations as well as negotiations between the EC and its partners in the Mediterranean. Ms Hauer has a master's degree in History of the University of Vienna, and has completed her postgraduate studies on international relations at the School for Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University.
