Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), Head of Section
Graduated from University of Muenster Faculty of Law in 1991. After graduating as fully qualified lawyer in 1994 he worked for the Federal Office for Unresolved Property Issues (Bundesamt zur Regelung offener Vermögensfragen). Holger Weustenfeld started working for the former Federal Banking Supervisory Office (Bundesaufsichtsamt für das Kreditwesen - BAKred) in 1997, i. a. as the President´s personal assistant in Berlin and Bonn. Since 2005 he has been head of section Q 25 and is responsible for the supervision of deposit protection, investor compensation and insurance guarantee schemes. Holger Weustenfeld is member of the European Commission Working Groups on Insurance Guarantee and Deposit Guarantee Schemes. Furthermore, he represents BaFin in a consultancy project on deposit protection in China. Within the framework of the Twinning Project he also assists the Turkish CMB as a short-term expert in drafting legislation regarding investor compensation schemes.
